DAY 12 PARTS 1 AND 2 - DO SOME ROUTE 66 RESEARCH, WILL YA!!

Back to Afton Station in the AM again? The Rod and Custom museum is closed Tuesday and the Afton Station is closed Monday so I stayed over near by Monday PM and got both done!! Afton Station is so small you can speed through it without noticing, but it is one of those towns that was bustling when Route 66 was the way you drove to Western or Eastern destinations. The buildings are mostly original structures and one in particular is an old gas/repair shop that houses a Route 66 museum and a fabulous collection of Packards transplanted from Connecticut. I am talking Concours D'Elegance quality! FREE ADMISSION!!
Hajek Motorsports in Ames Oklahoma is population 150 and home to an unreal collection of vintage and historic restored race cars and a big thanks to Rhonda for taking time to let me see Mr. Hajek's treasures!!
