DAY 11 PARTS 1 AND 2

Off to the top of Petit Jean Mountain which was a rather breathtaking view in Morrilton Arkansas and you may ask why? For the Museum of Autos of course! Winthrop Rockefeller made this his home and if you were not aware served as the Governor of Arkansas and some of these cars are from his personal collection including both his limos in the family colors of maroon.
If you don't know who Darryl Starbird is you should be ashamed!! Customizing of cars was a much different thing back in the day and there was a whole bunch of famous customizers out there who built famous cars. The funny part is as we grew up it seems the model car and Hot Wheels we all had were not always connected with the real cars they were modeled after! In Afton Oklahoma a shrine has been built as the Rod and Custom Hall of Fame with those famous icons and tributes to the crafty customizers. I thank Donna Starbird for offering to stay late if I did not make it on time, but I did and it was nice meeting her. He was known as the bubble top king!
I had a chance to call into MotorMouth Radio today and it was fun so check out the website! I have found a lot of old iron parked along the road and will get all those together when I get back as a Flickr page. Off to the Lambrecht Chevrolet auction in Pierce Nebraska tomorrow, check out Vanderbrink Auctions website - its crazy because the bids are already being taken and the prices are crazy. I have never seen bidding start before the auction, so when it starts the prices are already up there and not very proffessional is it?
