CHATTANOOGA CRUISE IN,GUNG HO-ASSAN MOTORS, 1961 DODGE FLITE WING AND WATIDIZ?

The big spring cruise in usually held at Coker Tires in Chattanooga has moved to a local park and turned out to be great!
A few nice MOPARS to start the day
Snap on ratchet is cheaper than a T handle?
 A King Cobra
I miss Burt Reynolds
 This was cool!
Must be more MOPARS in Chattanooga
 More MOPARS!

Don't call it a Caddy, it's a LaSalle!

Dodge D100victoria

He kept telling people it's a Honda CRV, I stuck my nose in and said isn't that an Avenger Kit car, I blew their cover then everyone kept asking what is an Avenger! LOL!

Was a kit car to be merged with a VW chassis

It's a Bamalance!

Let us talk about the Movie Gung Ho!
Gung Ho= Enthusiastic, overzealous or even the feeling of being bulletproof!
Hit the brakes, not that movie, but this movie!
One of the movie posters the car appears to be a Chevy Cavalier.
Later posters show one the Assan Motors cars being built in the USA, HUH?
CARHUNTER gives the movie a thumbs up, more because Ron Howard create the illusion of a car being introduced into the USA and built here as well.
In reality these factory scenes were shot in Argentina at the beginning of the movie. This was supposed to be a factory in Japan
All the cars in the photos had an overlay with custom Assan Motors logo in each grille!
Here the movies star Michael Keaton is driving a hastily assembled Sport model off the line, I do remember those stripes and "sport" being sold in auto parts stores back in the early 90's. the movie was filmed in Pittsburgh and Beaver Pennsylvania.
Since they rushed to meet a quota some steps were skipped, like bolts!
Things got a little sloppy at the Hadleysville assembly plant! This was the almost winning 15,000th car built in a month to meet the quota!
Ron Howard did some homework and found a car not sold in the USA that used left hand drive.
Say hello to the Fiat 147 of Argentina
Very clearly showing the location of the fictional Assan Motors logos!
Lets not forget the Fiat hatchback also staring in the movie.

ABC attempted to spin the movie off as a sitcom with Scott Bakula making a Quantum Leap!
Click on a promo for the show and tell me do you even remember the movie spin off, it had 9 episodes!

Meet our concept car of the month; The 1961 Dodge Flite Wing
Chrysler liked to use the word Flite a lot, it is not even a word!
It is not T-Tops nor Gullwing doors so what is it? They were labeled flip up windows which would automatically activate when you open the doors!

I do not believe this concept car survived?

I am posting this as it has been on numerous Kustom Sites all searching for some info on this early, fascinating Kustom!
There is a film crew, I even located the old track finding the train bridge in the background and the trail ends there!
It's or was a Model A, but the nose and grille work is amazing!
What a Segway from a great Kustom to an odd Kustom!
Recently spotted on Hemming's I can almost remain speechless!
Ok I can't! Recently at a show some folks I was with seemed to be confused why I was drawn to the odd, different and maybe even ugly!
I live for finding creations like this and this one abuses the privilege of being odd by a country mile!
I know you are thinking how can I get one because there can only be one?
It is your lucky day because molds were made, sorry they did not break them! Even the license plate makes no sense!
Oh What It Is - LOL!
It is hard to take this serious at all
There is an expression "Christmas Threw up on their Lawn", well something happened in this guys driveway.

Remember I post 'em as I see 'em!
This guy needs a tap dancing dentist!

"NO LOW BALLERS ASKING $8,400 OR SCAMMERS PLEASE. check it out on youtube ....AND PLEASE NO MORE ADMIRERS COMING TO SEE IT OR HAVING THERE MECHANICS LOOK AT IT , THEN TELLING ME HOW IT'S WORTH IT BUT YOUR'RE SON NEEDS TAP DANCING LESSONS OR YOU HAVE TO GET YOU'RE TEETH DONE....J"
END OF AN ERA!
Craigslist is now charging $5 an ad for cars to sell, I noticed an instant reduction in cars listed by a landslide!!
CARHUNTER may have no material for this feature in the future!
