THE WINNER OF THE 2016 RIDLER AWARD HAS BEEN NAMED!

I tried to get some guesses from blog readers and got only one!
They just picked the winner of the Ridler Award minutes ago
It was just a question what your opinion was, which got lost in translation!
The judges picked it and I strongly agree!

Billy and Debbie Thomas from Georgetown Texas must be just crazy with satisfaction right now for a great job!
1939 Oldsmobile "Olds Cool"
Built by Customs and Hotrods of Andice Texas!
CARHUNTER is 3 for 3 now I picked it Friday night!!

DETROIT AUTORAMA THE GREAT 8 WHO WILL WIN THE RIDLER AWARD?

I was on the road last week heading across the country through parts unknown!
I got some great new photos and I will try to follow my usual Great 8 pics, but must interrupt the six days on the road blog!
If I realized I was a week off I may have actually stopped in Detroit, but it did not work for me.
Have a look at last years competition on the link here
http://carzhunt.blogspot.com/2015/03/blog-post.html
The Detroit autorama GREAT 8 have been picked, only one takes the Ridler Award!
HERE WE GO
I am going make my comments beneath each car
Shipped all the way from Australia
Chris and Colleen Bitmead's Ford Falcon XBOSS
Two Big Thumbs up for making the trek from downunder although the car is fantastic it lacks a unique look from 1st glance

Pat and Mike Matkin's 1938 Graham Shark
When you take a car that already possesses a unique design any changes might be lost

Mirage, Lincoln Zephyr Custom
First glance I leaned into this one, but balance and overall flow of design changed as you move to the rear of the car

Bill Thomas's 1939 Oldsmobile Convertible "Olds School"
Remember First Glance and this one looks like a chiseled masterpiece

Joe Horsick's 1961 Chevrolet "Double Bubble" 409 wagon
Many innovations here, it looks like a modified Chevy, although exotic and nicely executed

Greg Malvaso's 1940 Willy's Pro Street
Been done before, but not to take away from a spectacular presentation, it still looks like a 1940 Willy's

Mark Gooden's 1952 Mercedes Benz 170S
It takes an enormous imagination and large risk to roll a Mercedes Benz into the Autorama and it is very well done!

Dan Warther's 1937 Ford Deluxe coupe with Ford Hemi
Subtle body changes clean build

Eight absolute fantastic cars for sure, but lets go over the rules, the car must 100% preview to any public viewing at the Autorama, they look for not only quality, but I think the overall first impact of the car when you see it. Innovation followed through a theme. The Ridler award is one trophy that has the biggest impact.
CARHUNTER has it narrowed down and will pick my choice, I have been on the mark so far so lets see what happens this year WHO DO YOU PICK?

SIX DAYS ON THE ROAD DAY 2 PART 2

We continue the journey Day 2 part 2 from Murdo South Dakota as a summary because there were many many cars in numerous buildings as seen
One of these tourist sites ripped the Pioneer Auto Show because it was dated and a little rough!
Yes 50+ years of collecting and an enormous collection may be less than polished, but as a serious car collector CARHUNTER could only give this place 5 stars.
A factory Model AA (I believe) Ford factory built camper from Canada!
This sets the stage for a theme of campers as you will see!

It worries me when novice car folk with a little knowledge give their opinions!
Pioneer Auto Show is a Diamond in the Rough and that gets a thumbs up every time!
Check out the crazy plaid top on this one!
Plant your tush on one of these tractor seats
Yes Studebaker started by making wagons as many automakers had!

Would you say a Samson is a rare truck? Closed cab rarer?
It's Cargo even rarer, a Hovercraft!

Apperson Jack Rabbit

Go ahead guess the rest of em, I can't tell you everything

That little Black car in the back was a car featured on the blog and shocked to see one!

Check it out above
Billy Durant who began with a car wearing his name developed with Louis Chevrolet into General Motors.
Below is a beautifully restored Durant

A Lafayette- which is?
Another name from Nash cars, more on that in a day or so!

Lots of snow and lots of trucks and tractors!

The rare Motorhome theme continues!

More everything!

A Star which evolved from Durant!

Amphibious car
Very early and very cool Toyota

More More More, how you like it, how you like it?

Packard US Air Force ambulance
CARHUNTER wants this one! 1978 Dodge Lil Red Express truck
Let's jump in the Vista Cruiser
Pinto in a very cool color combo if that is possible?
Chrysler Airflow
Sunbeam Alpine not a Tiger
Mustang II Ghia
One of those Solar Powered things
Farm stuff, LOL!
Notice Lambrecht Chevrolet on doors- the big 500 car Chevy auction in Nebraska. Yes CARHUNTER attended, of course!

Not a Super 8, but close, maybe a Super 4?

Nice to have your own collector fire house!

Vintage Dentist office well equipped
An early movie camera
That train station was very accurate inside, anyone loose luggage in 1927?

When you saw the last sign it was Burma Shave!
The first Radio Shack!

Fiberglass Kaiser Darrin
Tom Mix's Packard
A two headed calf
To drive a two headed car!
Dave is still buying cars!!
Even CARHUNTER gets cut off sometimes
In Hartford South Dakota 1000 old cars in muddy snow and a disappointment

What I got here was a bunch of mud all over my truck and shoes!
Much more to come so stay tuned folks!!
FOUR MORE DAYS TO GO!
